“250 Years of American History in Medals”
—This program is an idiosyncratic visual journey through 250 years of history, highlighting both well-known and not so well-known events that were commemorated in medallic form. You will find out how these little gems can give us insight into the minds and attitudes of past generations.
Presented by Alexander Krapf
Alex discovered medallic art relatively late in life and found it to be his gateway to the study of American History; he started collecting 14 years ago. He discovered that each medal was not just an extraordinary object of art, but a lasting reminder of a moment in history. He currently serves as First Vice President of the American Numismatic Society and a trustee of the American Medallic Sculpture Association.
