1950s West German Christmas Ornament
Tiny Tuesday had a snow day yesterday, so here’s a belated post!
This glittery globe is a vintage 1950s West German Christmas ornament. Made of pasteboard and covered in mica and glitter, these balls served a dual purpose; they were an ornament which would open to hold candy!
The ball opens in the middle, revealing a space lined with floral paper. Candy or small trinkets would be placed inside; a perfect spot for a little holiday treat! This is just one of several little German glitter ball ornaments in the Historical Society’s collection!
