Salt Cellars
Belated Tiny Tuesday!
Pictured are three late 19th/early 20th century salt cellars. Part of a set of 6, these minute containers are hand painted in pastel shades of pink, green, and yellow (known as party shades)!
These were crafted in France by Deliniers & Co., which created Limoges porcelain.
Hand painting china became a craze in the late 19th century. The “S” on the bottom of the pieces stands for either Sarah A. (1877-1955) or Susan (1873-1957) Thackery, two spinster school teachers who were aunts of the donor.
