Now Available For Viewing: MUGS: 1911-1948, Gritty Depictions of Human Drama

| Exhibits

The newest on-line feature exhibition by the FRHS, “MUGS: 1911-1948,” is now available for viewing on the FRHS website.

As mentioned in a previous post, the exhibition opens with a brief – but fairly comprehensive, I think – introductory narrative about the collection of criminal cards on which the exhibit is based, and historical facts pertinent to the medium. In addition, the first eight images are presented in chronological order.

Our first rogue:

An eighteen-year-old engraver, arrested for Breaking & Entering and Larceny, on October 30th, 1911.

This is an on-going exhibit: Two additional criminal cards will be added on a weekly basis, until the entire collection is displayed.

Poignant images, they oftentimes provoke an emotional response from the viewer – they are Gritty Depictions of Human Drama.

What were the backstories?

Fascinating.
