Something old, something new, Tiny Tuesday is something blue!
 
This delightful miniature “Brides Basket” is made from hand-blown glossy custard glass cased in robin’s egg blue glass. The delicate ruffled crimped edge adds a touch of playfulness. Miniature glass pieces were often created by glassblowers as whimsies. This piece dates to the third quarter of the 19th century.
 
These little trinkets could be given as gifts or purchased as an addition to the ever-popular curio cabinet. Full sized “Brides Baskets” featured the ornate glass bowls in silver plated stands, and would be given as gifts to prospective brides.
 
This piece has been in the FRHS collection since 1941!
