This wee little envelope and card were found within the pages of a substantially sized family Bible. The pasteboard card measures 2 \u00bc\u201d x 1 \u00bc\u201d, with a beveled edge tipped with gold. Unlike our previous miniscule mailing, this note was never sent; this likely contributes to its pristine condition. Like the announcement for Alice L. Fish detailed in a previous post, this is a birth announcement for Harrison Sherman Manchester (1888 \u2013 1934).<\/p>\n
Harrison was born on December 23, 1888, to Edwin Franklin Manchester (1842 \u2013 1900) and Abby Ellen [Sherman] Manchester (1845 \u2013 1931). Born in Fall River, Harrison spent much of his life in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. In 1912, he married Edith Marinda Coggeshall (1889 \u2013 1974) and the couple went on to have three children.<\/p>\n
Along with announcing the baby\u2019s name and weight (a healthy 8 lbs.!), the card also refers to a passage from the Book of John, chapter 3, verse 16 : \u201cFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son\u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n
