Showcased today is a poem where a witch beckons children to join her on a nighttime ride throughout the town!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Miss Greenway was a widely successful illustrator of children&#8217;s books during the late 19th century. Her first work features captivating illustrations accompanied by simple prose. &#8220;Under the Window&#8221; sold nearly 100,000 copies throughout America and Europe, a sizable feat!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">This copy was given to Mary Durfee Brayton (1877-1889) while she attended the Maple Street School. Mary was the daughter of Hezekiah Anthony (1832-1908) and Caroline Elizabeth [Slade] Brayton (1847-1928).
