A precursor to modern gift cards, tokens were used to purchase items from stores and were often exchanged as gifts during the holiday season.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Cherry &amp; Webb Company, originally named New York Cloak and Suit Company, began business in 1896 in Fall River on Columbia Street.
