This little book, dating to the 1960s-1970s, features a colorized photo of the building as well as all the contact information one would need.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">R.A. McWhirr&#8217;s Company &amp; Department Store opened in 1877 in Fall River, boasting various goods such as clothing, furniture, and their famous candy counter! A highlight for many were the pneumatic tubes which crisscrossed throughout the building, carrying receipts and money to patrons. Though McWhirr&#8217;s closed its doors in the late 1970s, many still have fond memories of the &#8220;leading department store&#8221;!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Fall River Historical Society has a substantial collection of McWhirr&#8217;s material, and we are currently in the process of documenting the history for eventual exhibits and publications.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tiny Tuesday is hot, hot, hot! \u00a0 Here is an intact match book from McWhirr&#8217;s Department Store!
