The pendant features an image of the British Empire&#8217;s Queen Victoria, printed on celluloid. The commemorative ribbon was undoubtedly produced for a Diamond Jubilee celebration by one of Fall River&#8217;s British based organizations in 1897.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">On June 20, 1897, Queen Victoria celebrated 60 years on the throne! At the time, Victoria was the longest reigning monarch of the British Empire, a feat which would not be surpassed until Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. Victoria ascended the throne in 1837 at just 18 years old, faced with doubts of whether such a young woman could effectively rule one of the most powerful countries in 19th century Europe. However, Victoria would prove to be a successful ruler, reigning until her death on January 22, 1901. When her Diamond Jubilee arrived, numerous pieces were fashioned for sale such as ribbons, dishware, handkerchiefs, and other souvenirs.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Fall River Historical Society has a large collection of commemorative pins and ribbons for various celebrations throughout the city, country and the world!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Consetetur sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua.
