What’s a better pick-me-up than a hot cup of coffee on a winter morning?

This porcelain coffee cup is decorated with red and gilt trim while the handle adds a touch of flair with its unusual shape. Adorning the front of the cup is a red and gilt CEW; while we know that the 56-piece dinnerware set descended in the Easton family, we have yet to identify the original owner.

But what makes this cup different from the others in the FRHS collection?

This cup is more akin to today’s modern mugs, with an approximate capacity for 2 cups of water. It’s a substantial difference to the dainty demitasse cups in the collection, which hold approximately four times less liquid. And while the demitasse cups were used for highly caffeinated espresso, a larger cup of regular coffee might be just the ticket!

The next time you fill up your mug, remember that the need for caffeine is not a modern morning necessity!

Now that the holidays are over and everyone is returning to work or school, we could all use a bit of a boost to start our day.
