Pince-nez Glasses
With this artifact, Tiny Tuesday might have 2020 vision!
Popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this style of glasses is referred to as pince-nez. As seen in the third photo, pince-nez glasses do not have earpieces. Instead, they stay in place by pinching the bridge of the nose!
Unlike today’s popular styles, early glasses had a significantly smaller lens. The design focused on practicality instead of ornamentation, whereas later decades would introduce various shapes, colors, and sizes! The Historical Society is currently cataloguing an array of eyewear from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as this pair!
