Demitasse Cup and Saucer
Have a toast to Tiny Tuesday!
This diminutive demitasse cup and saucer is one of a set of six. They were manufactured in Germany by the Meissen Factory, and dates to the mid-19th century. The decoration is in a moulded pattern of overlapping scallop shells, hand painted in gilt.
The gorgeous set was used by Mrs. Robert Knight Remington [Elizabeth Allen Thatcher] (1832-1911), while she resided in the house. The Remington family owned 451 Rock Street from 1869 to 1878! In keeping with our dining room Christmas theme ‘Woman in Gold’, the demitasse set graces our table!
